Priorities Exercise
Create a list of your top 10 priorities that you would like to see in your next job. Don’t list them in any particular order, just concentrate on creating a list of the 10 most important ones that come to mind. These can include geographic location, attributes or values you find most important in your future team members, salary, career advancement opportunities, usage of your college degree, work-life balance, etc.

Now compare each of the priorities you listed to each other and force yourself to pick the most important to you between each pair below (so you’ll start by comparing #1 to #2 then #1 to #3 then #2 to #3 and so forth until you complete the step diagram below)
1or2
1or3 2or3
1or4 2or4 3or4
1or5 2or5 3or5 4or5
1or6 2or6 3or6 4or6 5or6
1or7 2or7 3or7 4or7 5or7 6or7
1or8 2or8 3or8 4or8 5or8 6or8 7or8
1or9 2or9 3or9 4or9 5or9 6or9 7or9 8or9
1or10 2or10 3or10 4or10 5or10 6or10 7or10 8or10 9or10
Now count how many times each number got circled.
1___ 2___ 3___ 4___ 5___ 6___ 7___ 8___ 9___ 10___
Now create your Priority Ranked List – highest # of circles = your highest priority, etc.
1___ 2___ 3___ 4___ 5___ 6___ 7___ 8___ 9___ 10___
Finally, re-write your Top 10 Priority List below in the new order. While this list might be perfect, it will give you a good starting point and a good roadmap on what’s important to you as you’re looking at job opportunities.
